One of my favourite events in the year is the annual Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, which is held at the Natural History Museum in London.
I’ve often marvelled at the photos over previous years (this must be my fourth or fifth visit, but I can’t remember exactly), hoping that one day I may be able to take some photographs as wonderful as the ones I’ve seen.
This year was no different. The standard was very high this year and every year, I think the competition only gets harder. And harder still it might be, as it’s beginning to become clear that digital photography is becoming more and more popular amongst the professionals. So much so that 2006′s competition will be the first to offer online entry.
But so good was the standard, that I don’t think my elephant photos are good enough to go into the competition, but I shall mull it over a bit more…
In the meantime, pop down to the NHM if you can, and if you can’t, have a look at the 2005 winning photos (warning: the images on the website don’t do the photos justice)…
