Video: California Routine (Lady Be Good)

I’ve been busy recently, so apologies for the lack of posts. A lot of my busy-ness has been down to the fact that I’ve been going to quite a few swing dance events recently. And learning routines. And then performing them.

Yes, performing them. Attached below is the video of the routine I’ve been learning with the London Swing Dance Society at their weekly Wild Times classes. Called the California Routine, it is a set performance routine (in our case a slight variation) which has appeared in movies before. We even had the pleasure of learning it in front of the legendary Norma Miller, sometimes known as the Queen of Swing, in one of our practice sessions. Anyway, it was great fun to learn and dance to and I’m delighted our final performance turned out so well.

And dare I say it, we’ll be performing it again at the Innocent Village Fete (formerly known as Fruitstock) this Saturday 4th August in Regent’s Park. We’ll be at the Alfresco Ballroom, so if anyone wante to see an encore, come along!
