Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone. Like the National Lottery this Christmas, a bonus entry in my blog today – see below for reviews of House of Flying Daggers and 2046, both films to be released in the UK in the next month.

Meanwhile, in the last week, it’s been a little busy. Work is quietening down now (well, I’m sitting writing this on Christmas Eve, where it’s all bliss!), and I’m looking forward to a relaxing four day break! Which may involve a bit of shopping after Christmas….

Talking of which, I did some Christmas shopping on Sunday with a Burberry addict, as it turns out! Out in Bicester, I realised how much Paloma loves Burberry, particularly their bags, as she left the shop an hour and a half after we went in, with four, but so very nearly five bags! It was very sweet seeing her very happy for the rest of the day!

Anyway, Christmas does tend to be a time for catching up with old friends and last night I caught up with Pak Wing and the rest of the SPS crew, on a brief return from MIT for the holidays. In a very intellectual night where the conversations turned to a lot of mathematics (most of which were lost on me, I might add!), we contemplated writing a paper to go for the Ig Nobel awards. Well, lads, if you’re still up for it, I am. I’m thinking hard already!

I somehow don’t think that the conversation over the dinner table tomorrow night with my relatives will be on the same subject. Indeed, I’m bracing myself for the perennial question of when I’ll be getting married. As supposedly the next in line in my father’s side of the family, but
disadvantaged by actually not having someone who I could potentially marry, I’ll be trying to turn the volume up on the TV to avoid the questions… If anyone has any better suggestions (apart from the obvious), please do add your comments below…

Anyway, enough Christmas Eve ramblings, hope everyone who reads this site has a fantastic Christmas. See you the other side.

You could ask if people have decided on a New Year’s resolution. That way, the attention goes away from you.

I’ll be thinking about the paper and your comments while I’m on my travels and will send everyone an email if you guys don’t do so first.
