Headline: A man was searched under the Terrorism Act 2000 at Monument
Station this morning. That was me (and a few others coming out of the
station this morning) as police make their presence known given that
the trial of those allegedly behind the 21 July attempted bombings got
under way yesterday, and fears of a backlash.
Not that I was looking shifty at all. Who knows what a suicide bomber
looks like? He could be disguised from anything like a hoodie to a suit
and tie (I was somewhere in between). But it does go to show that 18
months on from the 7 July bombings, there are still some nerves in
London, like the clouds that hang over us daily in real life.
Nonetheless, it’s not something I worry about. A quick search through
my nearly empty bag that contained some blank Christmas cards I forgot
to take out of it for over a month, plus some other boring items was
it. And a quick fill out of a form by the police officer, and a pink
recipt for posterity for me, and that’s it.
And off to work I went… No big deal
