Mad Dash!

Two bits of news which have led me to scurry around for completely different reasons on this busy week.

The first is my first trophy at work after 4 years. I managed to come second in the final of the annual karting event at Playscape Streatham, setting a fastest lap in the process of 26.12 seconds.

Coming second was a real surprise, and involved a bit of luck. Qualifying for the final involved five rounds of five car race-offs. Whilst I was able to win the first three, things went wrong in the last, when I only finished fourth. It meant I started sixth on the grid for the final with only five laps to improve. On the first lap, though, luck turned my way. I managed to avoid a multi-kart pile up and jumped up to third place and was catching second. Then, a couple of laps later, my opponent in second place spun, and I was free. No chance of catching the winner, though. Consistently good, he was seconds ahead, but then, apparently, he was the National Schools Karting Champion when he was 15 or something. I did manage to nick his fastest lap in the last lap though, so a nice consolation there.

So now I have a new trophy. But I have a bigger one this weekend, so to speak…

* IT’S COMPLETED *
I finally have the keys to my new flat, and after a bit of shopping in places like Bluewater, I’m going to start the decorations later today. It’s all been a rather smooth process, really, but it feels daunting when the next time comes around and I have to buy and sell a flat at the same time.

But for now, it’s time to do it up and make it spick and span to move in as soon as possible!
