Liverpool madness

It was a year ago that I sat watching the FA Cup final with Arsenal playing Manchester United when I was on the edge of my seat as my team beat the Red Devils on penalties to win. A few days later, Liverpool went to Istanbul to play AC Milan and beat them on penalties to win the European Champions League.

Well, a year on, it’s kind of the opposite way round. Liverpool beat West Ham in a penalty shoot-out after a 3-3 end to extra time. Now Arsenal travel to Paris to play in the European Champions League final in Paris to play Barcelona.

It’s going to be a tough match, but given the excitement of Liverpool’s match on Saturday, I sincerely hope it isn’t going to be a match where we draw 0-0 again and we win on penalties. But then again, a win’s a win, and I’ll take it. But as Thierry Henry and Arsene Wenger go to their home international ground, the Stade de France, I really hope that Arsenal will show the flair they’ve been showing the last few games of the season and win in style. Go the cranberries!

M:I3 Medical Humour
Recently there have been articles about how comas are not realistic in movies. It doesn’t always get to me when medical facts aren’t quite right in movies or TV dramas, but some do get my goat.

Kids, if you’re at home, and your sister’s a nurse, please don’t believe Tom Cruise in the movie in thinking that once you’ve been electrocuted and die, someone can automatically bring you back. And certainly don’t try to do it on yourself!

But aside of all that, I do have to admit that MI:3 was a fairly decent movie and certainly better than the first two installments. Lots of action, some talented actors, and Maggie Q to please the eye. Although tip for the directors of the next movie… Don’t get her to speak Cantonese. Her accent was awful! Anyway, one for excitement.

Campese’s Record Beaten
David Campese was the world greatest try scorer, playing for Australia 101 times and scoring an amazing 64 test match tries in that time. Some wondered if that record would ever be beaten. Well, it has. And by whom, do you ask? Another Wallaby? An All Black? An Englishman?

No, it was broken by Japan’s Daisuke Ohata, who scored his 65th try in only his 55th test on the weekend. However, one does note that most of his tries have been against minor opposition, but all credit to him. Next week, following my scrum practice in a Shanghai Metro, I’m off to join the Philippines Team (assuming I can get my residency) and try to break his record in test fixtures in less time!

But, all jokes aside, well done Daisuke!
