My absence from this website has been down to a reason. I’ve been dancing a lot recently, lindy hopping all round London, whether there’s an event here or there, or regular classes.
The last month or so have featured one Lindy-bomb, in which a random group of us ended up on the South Bank to dance our hearts away and impress the tourists; a swing dance picnic in Regent’s Park (very civilised); and an appearance at the Innocent Village Fete (formerly known as Fruitstock) on Saturday.
It’s been great fun, to be honest. But I think it’s beginning to take its toll on my feet as I feel an injury coming on. Anyway, hope it doesn’t hamper me too much!
If any Lindy Hoppers would like to join in with some of the events we randomly organised, join the Swing Dancers of London group on Facebook. None of the people who organise the events there have any specific commercial ties, we’re all just dancers, and often we organise our own thing. So come join us.
Royal Flush
On one aside, I did manage to play a little poker last weekend with a few friends, and I must report a one in 649740 event. I actually drew a Royal Flush, the highest combination of cards in poker (AKQJ10 of diamonds). Sadly, it wasn’t for big money, so I’m not a millionnaire… I somewhat think if only I had bought a lottery ticket with the same odds – I’d be a lot richer!
