Ah, I’ve been bad, I know. I haven’t really written anything on my blog for a long time. And I blame most of it on Facebook. I’ve realised that it’s so easy to update my status that I haven’t really needed to write about anything going on in my life! And since nearly 200 of my friends are also on Facebook (I didn’t realise I had so many!), it’s has really caused me to be lazy in writing ramblings.
But aside from that, lots of things have been happening recently. I’m still dancing, I’m busier at work than I have been over the summer, and I’m back into my second year of Mandarin courses (out of four). ä¸è¿‡ï¼Œ 我说ä¸æ–‡è¯´å¾—䏿€Žä¹ˆæ ·ã€‚(For non-Chinese speakers, that basically says my spoken Mandarin is crap – and is my perfect get-out phrase for not having to embarrass myself in front of my Chinese friends.)
Oh and watching the Rugby World Cup of course, and enjoying the surprise performance of England up to the final. I was one of those (as a keen fan of rugby) who wrote off England even before the World Cup, but I’m delighted with the performance England put in to try to prove people like me wrong. And they almost pulled it off, so they can be proud of themselves. But deserved praise for South Africa who played brilliantly throughout the tournament.
Meanwhile, I am thinking of my next challenge as things in life move on. As I’m approaching a date that says I’m 30, I’m determined to try out more new things. I’ve recently just booked two holidays, both very contrasting to each other. The first will be to the West Coast of the US in November, where I will visit Pak Wing in LA and Mona in San Francisco. Apart from seeing what it’s like in the Californian sunshine, I hope to check out what the swing dance scene is like on that West Coast.
The second is my first ski trip in Italy. With Kevin, Annie and a few others, we hope to descend (or should that be ascend first) upon the Italian Alps. I’ve never skiied before, so this will be effectively mean I get another badge to add to my scout shirt, if I was a scout that is. But hey, carpe diem and all that.
And if that wasn’t a challenge enough, a few friends have mischievously set up a facebook group to challenge me to do a task before I’m 30. The task itself hasn’t been determined yet, but let’s see what happens… For those of you reading this, I’ll leave it up to you to work out how to find the group.
But as October comes along and the clocks threaten to go back an hour, it looks like a busy autumn for me yet. Bring it on baby!
