It’s that time of year again, when I have to add another candle to the cake and wonder if it’s a bit too cluttered really for my minimalist life. But in the spirit of celebrating anything when we can find the excuse (it was also a last farewell to Janet who returns to HK this morning), I invited a group of of my dearest friends in London to see a performance at the Capital Gardens Jazz Concerts.
Tomasso Starace and the other four in his Quintet performed on the night and it was certainly up there with all the live performances that I’ve been to. They performed pieces inspired by the works of American Magnum phototographer, Eliott Erwitt and were accompanied by Agnes Meadows who read a few of her poems.
The venue for the event itself was a hidden gem in London. The Museum of Garden History is a converted church just round the corner of Lambeth Palace near Lambeth Bridge. Every year they run a jazz festival, and Tomasso’s Quintet were just one of the acts this year in a festival that lasts until the 10th September. A link is below for anyone interested.
Thanks to everyone who came as well. I forgot my customary no-presents rule, but the small gifts from most people were great! Thanks to you all.
Happy Birthday, Ramin
Of course, if it’s my birthday today, it’s Ramin’s tomorrow. So happy birthday, Ramin. By the way, you will be old one day too…
100th Blogger Post
Another landmark and this is my 100th post using Blogger. Not bad for about 15 months using it. Thanks to Blogger for some fantastic stuff to make my life easier!
