If Only... Names Were Easy to Choose
Carrying on a theme from my last blog entry, choosing a name does can be quite amusing, particularly in China, where often the inspiration can be just about anything.
Justin Mitchell, a journalist at the Standard in Hong Kong, writes about the choice of names of some of the Shenzhen kids he's encountered. From my own Summer Camp days, I can definitely agree with him on certain aspects of name choosing.
Meanwhile, Reuters reports that a whole village has change its name because it sounds too similar to the word dog. In a country that's superstitious about lots of things, be it numbers, names or feng shui, it's not surprising.
In the meantime, yours truly is thinking of changing his name into cool rap-artist sounding name. How about TNM? (The Notorious Molester). Of course, then I can change my name back one day to the tune of Mark Morrison's Return of the Ma(c)k...
Ok, never mind...
